Bridal Make up for summers & rainy seasons

Hello there! Am back with more on this blog! Sorry for the disappearing act have been extremely caught up with work. Considering the number of calls I have got for bridal hair & make up ,I thought how about discussing it??!!

Hair & make up for weddings & other occasions can be tricky. The heat & humidity can so mess it up. I recommend, keeping everything very simple.Application of too much of foundation can be the worst thing that you can do because it will just melt and crack up as well. With the rising temperatures , all those bridal clothes + jewellery one is bound to be sweaty.

Make-up tips:
1. Keep the moisturiser little
2. Use a Primer. Application of primer not only preps your skin up for smooth application of concealer & foundation but it also controls the sweat as it temporarily shuts your pores down & makes your foundation last longer.

Product recommendations : Primers by Kryolan, Mac & Chanel are fantastic.

3. Keep the application of concealer & foundation to the bare minimum.
4. Apply translucent powder liberally.
5. Apply powder illuminators over the cream ones. The cream illuminators doubled with sweat will make you shine a bit too much.
6.You can stick to your regular eye make- up, just make sure the eye liner & mascara is water proof.
7. Stick to powder blush . Cream blush again will add too much of a sheen to your skin.
8. Put on that lipstick & dab it in place with a lip seal.
9. Finally apply a make-up fixer. This usually comes in a spray bottle. You need to keep it 8 to 10 inches away from your face.Apply liberally & let it dry off naturally. As the name
suggests, a make-up fixer makes sure that your make -up lasts you over a long period of time, without any touch ups.

Product Recommendations: Make -up fixers by Kryolan & Make-up forever.

Hope my tips help you keep that make-up longer on your skin!

Answering your Queries

Aanchal: The amount of moisturiser that needs to be added to your foundation is "pea" size. The moisturiser I totally recommend is "Morning Nectar" by Biotique. Please check my "Top 20 Make-up products" for recommendations on foundations.

How much Concealer / Foundation to apply during a hot summer day?

Most women I see during the day time apply no concealer or foundation.  Kohl , eye liner & lipstick seem to be the most favourite.  My question is ... Why do we only have to look our best when we go for work or for a party?

Most women assume it takes a lot of make-up to look good - well its not so. Just a few dots of concealer under eyes, a drop of foundation mixed with your regular moisturiser, patted over your face & neck, can do the trick. Do not forget to apply a dot of your foundation, in dabbing motion, over the concealer. Apply loose powder on top, to set it in place.

If you sweat a lot or have extremely oily skin you could just dab some concealor on & use some translucent powder or compact powder with a huge powder brush, in circular motions all over your face, neck & eye lids too.

People with clear good skin can use a tinted moisturiser with a bit of concealer.

TIP: How to choose the shade of your concealer & its application?

* Your concealer should just be about a shade lighter than your skin tone. Don't make it too light otherwise it will be a task for you to blend it in.
*The trick to getting the concealer application right is - DABBING. Apply a few dots of concealer extending from the inner corner of the eyes to the outer corner & blend with with the tip of your ring finger using the 'dab' technique. If you rub , you won't get the desired coverage.

TIP: What concealer to apply if one has problematic under eyes?

* If you have black /blue dark circles apply an orange concealer.
*If you have severe eye bags do not use a thick creamy concealer, use a liquid one instead & use as minimum as possible. The more you use, the more your lines will show.
*If your eye lids are dark as well,  apply a dot of concealer there as well. Make sure its not a lot or you will see a lot of crease lines all over your eye lids.

TIP : How to choose your foundation?

* Choose three shades of foundation that are the closest to your skin shade.
* Apply all three in small patches over your face.
* The one that shows the least  - is your Shade.

Choosing a colour way lighter than your skin tone is only going to make you look like a clown.  Your skin will start looking grey after sometime. Also when you apply your foundation , no matter how little it is, do not forget to blend it into your hair line & a bit on your ears as well.

Hope these tips help you look more gorgeous than you already are....Cheers!

1st Step to good make-up????

Hellos ...Welcome to Mascara Monologue!!! This is my first post from my blog . I am as excited as you can imagine me to be!!

So I thought how about starting right from the very basic - Getting the skin right before the application of make -up. As we all are aware the 3  basic skin types are Normal, Oily & Dry & then ofcourse we have some combination skin types too.

Personally, I find dry skin the most difficult to apply make up on. Reason being, the skin is flaky   & peeling - resulting which the make up collects around the flakes & the application looks patchy. Dry skin is parched - so no matter what you do the glow is missing.
How to fix it :  I recommend using a heavy moisturiser minutes before you start the application of concealor. If your skin is peeling off (literally) specially after over exposure to sun, you must apply Aloe Vera to the skin a night before & moisturise & leave a thick layer of moisturiser on your skin before you hit the bed. Need I say you need to drink a lot of water & stay off alcohol & smoking??

P.S: The moisturiser I completely recommend is Morning Nectar by Biotique & Shaflight for extreme dry skin.

Application of make -up on Oily skin is easy . The only problem? It eats away foundation too soon & shines a bit too much.

How to fix it : A primer works wonders for oily skin type. Its helps the make-up last longer too. Translucent powder (loose powder) is a must buy for people with oily skin. I apply a wee bit more of this on oil prone areas , without over doing it. Remember a bit of shine on the skin makes one look younger too. Very matte skin is a complete no-no! Also tea tree oil products does wonders for oily skin - face wash, toners - just stock 'em up!! Blot paper is also something that will help keep the oilyness at bay. But if the skin oils up too much your best bet is a touch up with translucent powder applied with either a powderpuff or a large powder brush.

P.S : I love the entire collection of Bodyshop tea tree oil products! The translucent powder I love is from Chanel , MAC ain't bad either.

Normal skin - don't we all wish we  had one!! Sigh! Just a wee bit of moisturiser & the skin is all prepped up for application of make -up!
